American Shaman have a diverse product line and a fantastic reputation among customers. However, they are not very transparent about their sourcing and third-party testing.

This review covers one of the more popular companies out there, American Shaman. You may have seen their products offered in your local dispensary or health food store since they have a very well-developed retail presence.
I will first offer a quick peak at their entire (quite extensive) product line, followed by a point by point overview of their quality based on several factors.
About The Company
This company has a fairly dedicated following among CBD users. They do have a large selection of products including tinctures, vape supplies, capsules, topicals and edibles. They are very inexpensive and are a decent choice for those new to CBD oil.
However, although their product is manufactured in the USA, they are not very transparent about their industrial hemp sourcing and readily available testing from third party labs is lacking on their website.

American Shaman has very well-developed product lines serving a variety of niche needs. What follows is a brief overview of the products, styles, sizes and flavors on offer to help you check to see if this company offers the kinds of CBD products you are looking for.
CBD Tinctures
Full Spectrum Hemp Oil – You can buy the full spectrum hemp oil tincture in 150mg, 300mg, 450mg, and 750mg bottles. It contains MCT from coconut oil as the carrier along with natural flavorings. The tinctures do taste great and come in Blueberry Moon, Cinnamon and Grape. If you prefer an oil with no flavorings, they have natural as well.

Clearomizer Cartridge – One of the cheapest ways to get started with vaping is to buy disposable cartridges and inexpensive batteries (these work with the standard 510 thread battery). Each of these small cartridges comes with .5 ml of prefilled CBD vape juice with 50mg total of their full spectrum CBD oil. Flavors include: Blueberry Moon, Cherry Limeade, Cool Berry, Grape, Natural, Pina Colada, Strawberry, Strawberry Banana, Tropical Punch, and Watermelon.
Exxux Snap Cartridge Vaporizer – This is American Shaman’s all-in-one vape system that includes a battery and refillable cartridge with three power settings all encapsulated in a simple, compact design. Its pretty inexpensive for a full vape rig.
VG Cloud Tincture – The CBD e-juice available at American Shaman comes in several fruity flavors including Blueberry Moon, Natural, Cherry Limeade, Strawberry-Banana, Cool Berry, Tropical Punch, Grape, Watermelon. It comes in 150mg, 300mg, 600mg and 900mg sizes in either 15ml or 30ml bottles.
CBD for Pets
Tinctures for pets – Using pet safe formulas, American Shaman CBD offers tinctures specially formulated for dogs, cats and horses with dosing instructions for each.
Equine Ointment – This ointment, developed for use with horses, packs an ultra-concentrated 500mg of full spectrum CBD oil in each 2-ounce jar. In addition to their terpene rich hemp oil blend, this product also includes other high-end ingredients including lanolin, aloe vera gel, and vitamins A, D, & E.
Topicals
Hydrating Body Lotion – With ingredients like cocoa butter, shea butter, apricot oil, avocado oil and vitamins A, E and D, this is already a nicely fortified body lotion. However, the large 8-ounce squirt bottle also contains a full 120mg of CBD.
Replenishing Face Cream – Coming in at a very reasonable price point, if you have not tried CBD topicals yet, this is definitely a good choice to try it out. Each 2-ounce jar includes 60mg of CBD along with natural ingredients such as safflower oil, pumpkin oil, lanoline and lavender oil. It has a nice but not overpowering scent.
Terpene Rich Topical Serum - Promoted by the manufacturer as a topical solution for pain and inflammation, this serum is a concentrated serum that penetrates deeply within 10 minutes for localized relief. It is extremely concentrated, with 450mg of CBD in a 15ml dropper bottle.
Under Eye Serum – American Shaman claims this serum is designed for direct application daily on the delicate tissue under the eye to reduce discoloration, wrinkles and puffiness. It has a convenient ball style applicator with a high dose of PEG 400, a common ingredient in hydrating cosmetics.
Lip Revitalizer – One of the more potent CBD lip balms on the market, each stick contains a full 30mg of full spectrum CBD in addition to natural ingredients including bees wax, cocoa butter and shea butter. The manufacturer claims that it revitalizes, moisturizes, and reduces discoloration.
Edibles
American Shaman offers CBD & Terpene Rich Hemp Candy and gummies in their edibles line. Although the flavors are strong and tasty, they are a bit pricey compared to other edibles on the market.

Product Sourcing
The informational sections of the website imply that the company imports hemp paste before refining the paste into CBD oil using a combination of ethanol and C02 processing.
While importing hemp can be a major cost saver that is passed on to customers, it also raises some issues about the quality of the end product. Because I believe that the best way to control the quality of the finished product is to have strong relationships with domestic growers, I lowered the overall rating for this reason.

No Third Party Lab Results
These days, the best CBD companies make their third-party testing of cannabinoids, terpenes, pesticides, heavy metals and microbial lab reports available to their customers on a regular basis.
Unfortunately, as of 7/17/18, the only testing that I could find on the site is a partial test from ProVerde labs with no date, and only a cannabinoid profile offered. This is a red flag when it comes to quality, so I have lowered the rating as a result.
Final Thoughts
While they do have a well-developed product line and a significant reputation among customers, there are a few concerns that I have about their transparency when it comes to sourcing and third-party testing.
If you are new to CBD oil and on a budget, the low prices may well justify giving this brand a try.
